It depends on the size of the tree, what it is resting on, and how much rigging it takes to get it off safely. A limb on a fence is a far smaller job than a mature oak across a roofline. We quote before we cut, and if insurance is involved we provide the photos and itemized invoice your adjuster will ask for.
Does homeowners insurance cover tree removal after a storm?
Usually yes when the tree hit a covered structure like the house, garage, or fence, and coverage for a tree that fell in the open yard varies by policy. We are not adjusters, but we document everything with photos and a detailed invoice, and our customers' claims generally go through smoothly. Check your policy or agent for the specifics.
A big limb is cracked but has not fallen. Is that urgent?
Yes, treat it as urgent. Hangers and cracked leaders are under tension and can drop without warning, in calm weather, days or weeks after the storm. Keep people and cars out from under it and give us a call, since getting a hanger down safely is usually a quick job.
There is a power line involved. Can you still help?
The utility always deals with the line first, and no reputable tree crew touches a tree that is energized or resting on a primary line. Call the power company to report it, then call us. Once the line is de-energized or cleared, we take the tree the rest of the way down safely.
